Educator Notes: After students have coded and constructed their prototype, the goal is to have them use the prototype to complete an additional challenge. There is no tutorial for this challenge Find the completed code here. For troubleshooting tips, please refer to our Knowledge base here. Coding Objective: Objective: Have the station measure the left and right distance and make a choice based on which has more room. Expand your student's understanding by asking the following questions: 1. How their prototype works 2. Any issues they ran into and how they troubleshoot
Now that you have built your Monitoring Station, we have an extra challenge for you!
The environments scientists need to access in order to check on the glacier’s health are often harsh environments. A lot of the time, there is large equipment that needs to be moved from research stations, meaning they need to know which path is the most clear.
Your Remote Surveillance Station is currently only monitoring for falling ice from the glaciers in the path. Your challenge is to have your station measure which path has more space and direct to the path that is the clearest.
Hint: You will need to measure Sonar distance, and have the Remote Monitoring station make a choice based on distance.
