Imagine you are Wildlife Conservationists. Work in a group to design, build & code your own bee counter using the Climate Action Kit! Your job is to make a bee counter that keeps bees safe, protects their habitat, and collects data for you to study.

As you go through the steps below, you may wish to use our Design Journal Template to keep track of your work.

Step 1

Research different ways every day people and scientists are working together to study and save the bees.

Plan your project and decide what building blocks, smart components, and craft materials you will need for building.

Build your prototype, then connect it to Microsoft MakeCode to add code.

Test and debug until the device works.

SUCCESS CRITERIA

I can build a device to study or save the bees with the Climate Action Kit that uses at least:

  • one sensor (e.g. touch)
  • one conditional statement
  • one variable to track data (e.g. number of bees)

Don’t feel limited by this. You can get creative and add more features if you would like!
