Climate change is making our planet warmer than it should be, which isn’t good. It can lead to more big storms, make it tough for animals to find what they need to eat, and even change where we can grow yummy foods like strawberries and corn. A lot of this warming comes from too much CO2 (a kind of air pollution) in our atmosphere. We get this CO2 from using energy, especially when we burn coal, oil, or gas to do things like watch TV, play on tablets, or light up our homes.
One super way to help stop the Earth from getting too warm is by using wind energy. Wind power is awesome because it doesn’t create any CO2. Think of windmills as giant fans, but instead of blowing air, they use the wind to make electricity. And there are some really cool windmills out there! Scientists and engineers are working on making them even better. They’re making bigger windmills that can catch more wind, and some can even float on the ocean to grab the strongest breezes.
We’ve also gotten really smart about saving the wind’s power in batteries. This way, we can still have electricity even on days when the wind isn’t blowing. With new battery technology, we can keep the wind’s energy until we need it, meaning we don’t always have to use the energy right when it’s made.
By turning to wind energy and other clean sources, we’re doing our part to fight climate change. Using less energy from burning coal, oil, and gas means putting less CO2 into the air. So, every time we choose or support clean energy like wind power, we’re helping to keep our planet cool and healthy for everyone, including animals and plants. Plus, it’s like making sure we have endless summer days without the bad parts, like too many storms or not enough food.
