Within the Take Action section of each lesson, students can choose to build their project using one of three pathways: Use, Modify, Create.

Use
Students follow a tutorial to assemble and download pre-existing code to their project. They engage with inquiry-based questions to explore how the code works and its purpose.

Modify
Students follow a tutorial to build their project and begin making changes to the starter code. This helps them understand the cause-and-effect relationship between their modifications and the project’s behavior. Finally, they complete a small challenge to enhance their code.

Create
Students take on an open-ended challenge by designing, building, and coding a completely original project from scratch. They receive a list of success criteria and can use an optional Design Journal workbook for additional support.
This framework provides flexibility, allowing students to engage meaningfully regardless of their experience level. Watch this video to learn more about how you can use this framework to guide your facilitation style.
