micro:bit MakeCode is the online coding platform that is used to code all of the Climate Action Kit projects. Review the video below for an overview of MakeCode, the tutorial function, as well as how to get started coding using the Climate Action Kit extension.
Important Notes
- Coding Tutorials for Climate Action Kit projects can only be accessed through the Forward Education Learning Platform.
- When using the MakeCode Coding Tutorial from the Learning Platform, students will be transported to an additional browser tab. When they’re finished with the Coding Tutorial, they can return to the Learning Platform.
- Additionally, when using the Coding Tutorial, the MakeCode extension for the Forward Education Climate Action Kit will be automatically added.
- If the Coding Tutorial is not used, the Climate Action Kit extension will need to be added manually by searching ‘Forward Education’ in the extensions drawer.
- The MakeCode Coding Tutorial limits the drawers and blocks in MakeCode to only those that are needed for this specific project.
- Students can use the ‘lightbulb’ button in the Coding Tutorial to view a hint if needed.
- The size of the instruction step window in Coding Tutorial can be adjusted by clicking and dragging the bottom of the window.
- Once finished with the Coding Tutorial, click the ‘Done’ button to be redirected to the full MakeCode Coding Workspace.
