Wind turbine blades need to be super light for when there is little wind, and strong so they don’t break in strong winds.
How do we make sure the blades are both light and strong?
We use special materials called composites for the blades, fibreglass and carbon fibre. By using these materials, the blades can catch a lot of wind and make a lot of electricity.
