As we’ve learned, humans use satellites to measure changes in sea levels around the world. These satellites provide scientists with critical data for understanding climate change and taking action to protect our ecosystems.

Our satellite prototype will use a sonar sensor. This satellite will measure the distance between the water level and the satellite. Remember: as the sea level rises, the distance between the sonar sensor and the water level gets smaller.
