Scientists, like Wildlife Conservationists, need to check if the newly built wildlife crossings are really helping animals! They track the number and types of animals using these crossings. If not many animals are using the crossing, they may need to make changes that make the animals feel safer!
They use:
- Cameras to take pictures of animals as they pass.
- Footprint tracking to identify passing animals by the shape and size of their prints.
- Prongs to gently collect fur from animals as they pass by, which helps scientists identify the species using the crossing.
