At Forward Education, we are committed to recognizing and appreciating the Indigenous communities whose knowledge, histories, and lived experiences inform and inspire parts of our learning materials.

Some of our lessons and resources draw from Indigenous perspectives and focus on major climate issues within many different territories & communities. To honour this, we share a map of Turtle Island that reflects Indigenous understandings of land and place, rather than colonial borders. We invite teachers and students to engage with this material to explore Indigenous knowledge systems and understand how deeply they are connected to environmental stewardship, climate change, and care for the land.

Advancing Indigenous People In STEM (AISES)

AISES is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.

Founded by American Indian scientists, engineers, and educators, AISES builds partnerships with tribes, schools, other nonprofit organizations, corporations, foundations and government agencies to realize its goals. AISES especially helps Indigenous North Americans and Pacific Islander students prepare for careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

AISES Chapters span seven regions across Turtle Island and provide a critical network for Indigenous students, professionals, and tribal members, where connections among STEM, community, culture, and confidence are explored, encouraged, and celebrated.

Connected North

Future Pathways Fireside Chats

Connected North is a Canadian charity which provides Northern and Indigenous communities with live, interactive learning experiences across Canada. The program supports teachers and Indigenous students from Kindergarten – Grade 12 with resources to foster confidence and build success in both school and life.

The Future Pathways Fireside Chats video series features Indigenous Role Models from various careers and communities speaking about their educational and experiential learning journeys. These interviews provide hope for the future, talking about how to handle uncertainty in their lives and careers, and how they balance and maintain well-being.

Whose Land is an interactive map that can be used to identify Indigenous Nations, territories, and Indigenous communities across Turtle Island. The app can be used to learn about the territory your home or business is situated on, find information for a land acknowledgement, and learn about the treaties and agreements.
