Climate action kit journal

The Climate Action Kit Design Journal is a flexible tool created to support the ‘Create’ phase of the lessons in our library. It’s also perfect for open-ended inquiry challenges! The journal guides students through the Engineering Design Process in a structured way, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and resilience as they iterate on their Climate Action solutions. By documenting their entire process—not just the final product—students and educators alike will gain valuable insights into how they approach challenges, making the journal a great supplement to your existing assessment practices.

The journal is fully customizable to fit your lesson goals and available time. Because it is built in Google Slides, you can easily add or remove stages based on what works for your class. We recommend making a copy, personalizing it, and sharing it with your students. Encourage them to make their own copies and adapt the journal to their needs. For example, they might want to duplicate the interview templates, insert sketches, add images, or even record audio reflections. The goal is for students to feel comfortable using the journal to document their design process in a way that suits them best!
