Did you know that satellites orbiting the Earth can help us understand global climate change? These satellites track glaciers and provide scientists with detailed information on how these giant ice sheets are changing over time.
In this lesson, we’ll learn how glacier ice helps regulate Earth’s temperature, and how something known as the “Ice-Albedo Feedback loop” is accelerating climate change. Then, we’ll build our own satellite to explore this phenomenon and explore how scientists monitor glaciers from space!

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The SDGs are 17 goals created by the United Nations to make the world a better place.
This lesson will help us reach goal 13 which is to take action and combat climate change! By studying glacier satellites, we not only learn about advanced technologies used in climate science but also contribute to a global effort to sustain our environment.
