Different animals use different types of wildlife crossings based on their size, behavior, and habitat needs.

Big animals like deer and moose prefer wide, open spaces. They feel safer on large, grassy bridges where they can see their surroundings.
Small animals like turtles and frogs, often feel safer in small, hidden places. They like to use tunnels under the road called culverts.

How Predators Can Use Crossings
Predators, like wolves or foxes, may try to use wildlife crossings to hunt. For example, a fox might try to trap rabbits inside a tunnel crossing! Designers have to think about this to create crossings that protect these prey.
