Banff Wildlife Crossings in Canada’s Banff National Park help animals safely cross the busy Trans-Canada Highway.

Aerial photo of Banff National Park land bridge that connects two halves of a dark dense forest.

The number of accidents between animals and cars has gone down a lot since the crossing was built. Now, the animals can more safely explore their habitats without getting hurt.

Now it’s our turn! We are going to imagine we are Wildlife Conservationists working with a team to design the safest wildlife crossing possible. It will have a bridge for larger animals and a tunnel for smaller animals!

Animal crossing prototype build with the Climate Action Kit components. The base plate is elevated with the 4 short green frames to create a tunnel and an overpass. There is an entry to the bridge where the sonar sensor, solar sensor, and breakout board are attached. There is a gate to the tunnel that is attached to a positional servo motor.
