In the mid-1700s, humans began burning coal and oil to fuel factories, also known as the Industrial Revolution. As cities grew, the factories that helped support them continued to contribute to climate change by increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
Cars and factories pollute the air, harm animals, make our water dirty, and cause health problems. With their need for energy and buildings, cities add to air pollution and lack green spaces like parks, which help absorb harmful CO2.

The more our cities grow, the more space is needed in a warehouse to create new goods for people to use. The construction of bigger warehouses and the need to heat or cool a poorly built warehouse significantly increases a city’s carbon footprint.
